"Acting: sometimes it's all smoke, and seduction, and mirrors ....

and sometimes it's the most powerful, raw, insightful reflection of life.

Sometimes it's all you want to see and hear.

Sometimes you'll give anything to believe what you want to believe.

Sometimes it's all that keeps me alive."

The woman I wouldn't sleep with...

Let me tell you about a very odd sensation ..... last night I had a couple of people over for drinks under the pretence of watching the state of origin (incidentally the maroons were getting their butts kicked so badly we only actually watched 10 minutes of the game!)

It was a couple I didn't know very well but who were friends of friends, and the woman I had worked with on a show once, and then another friend who was there to fill in the awkward gaps in conversation because she knew all three of us quite well.

The couple left earlyish as they had early starts and the girl remained behind. We chatted and gossiped and generally caught up, and when it got to the time when most people respectfully bid their farewells and go home she announced she didn't have the energy and was going to stay the night. Not in itself unusual. So she crawled into a pair of my pj's and climbed into my bed. At this stage I was a bit taken aback so I decided to stay up. She was also quite sick so I could hear her hacking and coughing and sneezing even from the study and eventually when I grew weary I curled up on the couch and fell asleep. THEN this woman has the audacity to be upset when I didn't sleep with her and chose the couch EVEN though she is ill and was never invited to spend the night in the first place. And yes we did sleep together once but that was almost a year ago now, and I had no intention of letting it happen again. We've remained friends because of theatre ties, that's about it.

It was an interesting night.
